Voice allows for initial recognition of Aboriginal people and their sovereignty. This is Recognition.
Treaty is the space where Aboriginal people and non-Aboriginal people come together and agree that both are here and agree to make room for each other. This is Conciliation, something that has not yet occurred in our shared history.
Truth is where the story is shared and what happened is laid out clearly and plainly. In this process of story and the acceptance of the story, we have Reconciliation. A process we are yet to fully engage in.
Makaratta is the point at which we agree to resolve the issues as agreed. This will mean that those who were responsible for the damage incurred will provide reparation, relinquish power and restore the original owner’s sovereignty.
